The history of WTO started already in 1977 when the founder of the company, Werner Tschiggfrei, developed the first multiple spindle heads for Machining Centers with automatic tool change. It was a world sensation and the start of a new epoch.
But the real history of WTO begins in 1983 with the foundation of WTO Werkzeug-Einrichtungen GmbH located in Offenburg/Germany and the design and manufacturing of toolholders for metal cutting. 1998 WTO established a new and larger manufacturing facility located in Ohlsbach/Germany. The village where WTO designs and manufactures the static and driven precision toolholders for Turning Centers, Lathes, Swiss Type and Multi Spindle Turning Centers for the world market.
WTO is growing continuously and invests annually in new technologies, machines and buildings. At the headquarters in Ohlsbach, the manufacturing area has increased by six times since 1998.
Today, WTO is the world leader in its industry and the largest manufacturer of precision toolholders for turning centers.
