For WTO, sustainability means creating lasting values: economically, ecologically, and socially for the benefit of our customers, employees, business partners, and society as a whole.
WTO has been using renewable energy for heating and cooling since 2011. The smart factory, which was completed in 2022, is above all a ‘green factory’. It sets milestones in state-of-the-art production technology and climate protection. Heat recovery and groundwater cooling will save over 3,8 GWh of energy per year, which corresponds to a carbon dioxide reduction of 445 tons.
WTO is currently commissioning the largest industrial photovoltaic system in the region for its own use, with a total of 6,274 photovoltaic modules totaling 2.55 MWp. For this purpose, new solar cells were installed on the roofs of the existing buildings and solar roofs were built over all the car parks.
Car and e-bike charging stations are being installed for WTO employees.
To comply with our global corporate sustainability goals, solar panels were installed on the entire roof. The solar energy system generates around 250,000 kWh of electricity annually and more than 6.8 million kWh over its expected lifetime of 30 years. This corresponds to a saving of over 5,300 tons of carbon dioxide.
WTO USA will therefore generate a large part of its electricity consumption.
We promote the use of resources as sparingly as possible throughout our supply chain.
We take advantage of the opportunities offered by digitization while also handling data responsibly. Three basic principles apply here: transparency, self-determination, and data security.
WTO takes seriously our responsibility to respect human rights among our industry partners, and we systematically track compliance.
