World-Robot-Olympiad

Ohlsbach, June 2025

The regional competition of the "World Robot Olympiad" took place on June 7, 2025, in Ohlsbach.

The World Robot Olympiad (WRO) is an international robot competition that aims to get children and young people interested in computer science, technology and robotics. All children and young people between the ages of 8 and 19 can take part.

The WRO 2025 season theme is: "The Future of Robots"
The aim is to develop a robot or a robot model on this year's competition theme "The Future of Robots" that helps design future cities or supports life in space.

This year there were 55 regional competitions, followed by the German final in Dortmund in June. The European final will be held in Slovenia in September and the world final in Singapore in November. More than 1000 teams take part in this year's competitions.

Each team developed an innovative and functioning robot solution and presented it to a jury. The first, second and third winner teams of the regional competition are qualified for the German final in Dortmund on June 27/28, 2025. WTO donated prizes in the form of MediaMarkt vouchers for the three winning teams. WTO has been supporting the World Robot Olympiad since 2022 by donating the prizes and subsidizing food and drink.

We were also represented at the World Robot Olympiad with an information stand, where we provided information about training opportunities in our “Smart Factory” - in keeping with the WRO motto.

In addition to in-depth practical training, trainees at WTO are also taught digital training content with a focus on robotics and automation. The aim is to optimally prepare our trainees for the changing challenges in the machining and industrial mechanics profession and for the digitalization of production processes. To this end, all our trainees receive an iPad at the start of their apprenticeship.
